Hi everyone,

I was wondering how Casper Administrators are packaging and deploying XCode 4.4.1 in a lab environment? I have some faculty who are interested in doing some app development with students this year, so the request has come down for XCode to be installed in one of our labs, so this is something new to deploy, and judging by posts regarding previous versions of XCode, it's not the most straightforward install. I've downloaded all of the Developer Tools from developer.apple.com, including the command line tools and the optional tool DMG's that used to be part of the install. Thanks in advance for any tips/tricks/gotchas I should be on the lookout for.

The link that CasperSally references is still a good way to go. I've got an updated post on building a Xcode 4.4.x installer for both 10.7 and 10.8 available here:

I'm using Rich's method via Self Service without any issues.

Thanks for the tip from your blog, Rich. Not sure how I missed that post in my Google Reader RSS feed. And thanks to everyone else for the quick responses!
