I'm trying to get the Casper PreStage imaging to work with some new computers and when I setup and power on a couple of MacPros it does not goto Casper Imaging automatically. Do I need to have it netboot first or should it netboot automatically?? I"m using Casper 8.2 and Snow Leopard across the board. These machines have Snow Leopard preinstalled. Any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong.

I have a NetBoot server with a 10.6 image for my Intel Macs and an 10.5 image for my PowerPC Macs. Both are set to automatically log in and launch Casper Imaging. The first thing Casper Imaging does is check with the JSS for a PreStage Imaging task. If it finds one for that machine's MAC address then it automatically begins imaging.

I create the PreStage task for a single computer on the JSS by assigning it based on MAC address. That way, I can image a single machine with the configuration it needs. If you need more information on this then I can post screen shots.

Hi Eric,

You may need to change your default netboot image to one which supports the new hardware. Some of our new machines just give morse code beeps unless the default netboot image is one made for them. (Or select manually by holding option, then pressing N)

Assuming your netboot image is set to automatically start casper imaging the rest should happen automatically.
