We've been running into issues trying to set up a proxy in iOS5.1. When we put in an automatic configuration (i.e. a PAC file), the device does not respect it, especially in regard to HTTPS/SSL traffic. Has anyone gotten this to work successfully?

+24Proxy PAC files (or in general autoconfig files) for proxy config on iOS can be dicey. We've found on ours that defining the proxy server URL and port is far more reliable. It may be particular to how the network is set up as well as one of our Wi-Fi networks the autoconfig URL works perfectly. The other, it doesn't. There are, however, major infrastructure differences in the two networks so that's why I think it may be particular to how the network is set up.
