I want to be able to have an iPad on wired ethernet and an HDMI adapter.
I have tried lots of Apple adapters and no luck. Is there some way to do this, maybe with the Apple USB-C HDMI adapter.
What I have tried:
Apple= AP

AP iPad HDMI Adapter-->AP 3.0 Camera adapter--->AP USB 2.0 ethernet adapter =Video no IP on ethernet
Seems like the HDMI has to be first in the chain for it to work

AP iPad HDMI Adapter-->3rd party USB+Lighting+Ethernet= Video works no IP on ethernet

I need this for a factory floor application where I need an ethernet iPad and video displayed to the external monitor.
So please break out the bluegrass and any red neck ideas are welcome.

Add an AppleTV to the mix. Connect the AppleTV to the monitor. Use AirPlay to send the video from the iPad to the AppleTV.

@kericson alrighty, here's a redneck solution. I think you need to get rid of the apple usb to ethernet connecter

  1. Connect this to ipad - https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Lightning-Digital-Adapter-MD826AM/dp/B009WHV3BM

  2. Connect HDMI & then connect lightning to this - https://www.amazon.com/Lighting-FA-STAR-Interface-Required-Upgraded/dp/B075V1ZY2C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1539350199&sr=8-3&keywords=lightning+cable+to+usb+female

  3. Connect power to charge, connect usb to this - https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1539350323&sr=8-7&keywords=usb+to+ethernet+adapter+mac

  4. Connect Ethernet to that

OR

HDMI + Lightning to Lightning to USB & lightning -> Connect USB to MacBook hardwired and sharing ethernet to 'USB iPhone adapter'

@Hugonaut Ok the first one I have already tried with the 3 Apple adapters, no ethernet connection. Can you explain the last option better? @jhalvorson Will Airplay turn off after so long if the iPad never goes to sleep?

Im thinking you can Connect the iPad to the dual Hdmi & Lightning female adapter, Connect the HDMI Male adapter, then connect a male lightning to male usb, connect male usb into a hardwired macbook. Under sys prefs -> sharing -> Internet Sharing - select 'Share your connect from " Ethernet " ' ' to "computers using" "iPhone USB" '

This way, the iPads Charged, Hooked up to External HD Monitory & getting ethernet internet access from the macbook.

Tested that didn't work either and AirPlay is out. Does anyone know if you get a lightening splitter will only one side to data and the other power?

Or has anyone gotten a USB to VGA or HDMI external graphics card adapter to work with a iPad. Then I could use a USB hub for everything.
