Hi all,

We're looking @ creating an Update workflow for our clients.

The basic idea is that we'd cache updates (from the JSS & our ASUS's).

When updates are found to be cached, users are nagged to logout & then @ logout the update are installed.

Anyways, CS6 will be on these clients too.. & therefore I've looked a little into RUM. Can someone please advise on the below?

  1. Does RUM cache packages to install later on the client? (Like softwareupdate -d -a).
  2. Do RUM updates sometimes fail if an app is open? (Say a photoshop update).
  3. Can RUM be ran @ login window?/li]
  4. Can AUSST servers be cascaded to further save bandwidth?
  5. Can AAMEE update packages be installed @ login window?

TIA!!

No.

Probably, yes.

Can RUM be ran @ login window?

Yes. Some updates may fail in this situation, though.

Can AUSST servers be cascaded to further save bandwidth?

Not sure.

Can AAMEE update packages be installed @ login window?

Most can, yes. Some will fail to install properly. You have to test each update to see.
