Hi

Has anyone created a script to automatically update and install the desktop google "Chat.app" from https://dl.google.com/chat/latest/InstallHangoutsChat.dmg

We have something similar for Chrome but I can't seem to get it working for Chat.app.

Here is the script we have used;

Just curious if you ever got this working. Trying to get the same thing basically going now.

Sorry for reply. Not looked into it more yet....Did you have any joy with anything @arepko ?

@jonathan.rudge @arepko You can install or update Chat.app easily with a script we've just opened sourced called install-update-app-in-dmg.sh.

You can install OR update Chat.app (or a ton of other App In DMG softwares) with the following parameters in a Jamf Pro policy:
- Parameter 4: https://dl.google.com/chat/latest/InstallHangoutsChat.dmg
- Parameter 5: Chat.app
- Parameter 6: CFBundleShortVersionString

If Chat.app is installed and open, it will prompt the user to postpone or update.

@ryan.ball @jonathan.rudge Ooooo! I'll have to check that out this week for sure!
Thanks for thinking of us!

We were using this technique to keep our Chat.app updated. However, Google has changed where Chat is installed, instead it now lives in ~/Applications for each user (and it appears to be tied to Chrome as well). Has anyone found a way to push out the new version via Jamf yet?

I'd like to know this as well...seems very frustrating...not just a standard app!
