Any good idea to create the smart group that will identify machines used by IT personals.
Here are the hiccups that preventing me to create a smart group for IT machines:
1) We are using a standard naming convention e.g "name-model-year of purchased(wllieu-MBA-13)"
2) No exclusive application used only by IT folks
3) And also all our macs are not joined to the domain.

+7Does it have to be a smart group based on existing information in the JSS. Or could you just create an extension attribute that you set like an ARD field (or even an ARD field)?
+38Is there a reason you cannot use the Department for this? Or, like @jdziat mentioned, create a text based EA that is on the Location tab of inventory. You can then scope to that.
If neither of those will work, a dummy receipt can be used to scope to.
