Is it possible to create a smart group from a custom trigger?

With the new image I want to create a smart group to see how many
systems are using the new image and also to apply MCX settings to that
group. Is there a way to do it? I saw I can create a smart group via OS
and a bunch of other things, but I didn't see specifically a trigger...
am I just missing it?

This goes back to a feature request from last week. I think it would
be awesome if Casper 'cached' the smart group(s) each computer is in, in
say a text file, or in /etc/jamf.conf or something. Then you could
easily trigger a policy from a script based on what smart group it is
in, or isn't in.

The other way to do this, is perhaps with dummy receipts.

We use a dummy package for this. Then scope a smart group on the presence of the dummy receipt. It's one case where Extension Attributes didn't make sense and a good ol' Dummy Receipt did.
