Troubleshooting done

- Usually outlook case space issue happens if user has local archives, migration to new outlook will cause storage space issue. Outlook size remains same

- Checked for logs , nothing unusual.

- ran disk space analyzer didn't find anything unusual in size.

- no time machine snapshots found.

- if i initiate indexing in the mac, system data space reduces immediately more than 150 Gb but it increases quickly to around 50 GB within 15 - 20 min.

- if i boot the mac to safe mode, the storage size remains same nothing changes.

- checked launchagents, launch daemons, login items, nothing unusual,

if anyone has faced this issue, let me know

I experienced the same thing two days ago, but with a different OS Sonoma Version 14.4.1 ( MacBook Air M1 ), after I restarted, it didn't Reopen windows when logging back in, my previous storage was full (2Gb free space), and it returned to normal to 250Gb free space

Latest 15.4 update has sorted the issue and the system storage is stable

We have a very similar problem! New MacBook Pro with macOS 26 Tahoe – not enrolled yet. Everything works well and just fine. After Enrollment with Jamf the System-Data Usage is increasing insanely fast. It just stops when no more space ist left and the whole SSD is filled with data. Can’t work with this.

Any idea????

We have other systems (same Hardware, same OS) where it works as expected. Only difference: enrolment happened before Tahoe was installed.

@jlattke What area of the drive is being filled with data? The type of data and the folder(s) that is being populated would likely be a good indication of what might be happening. You can use something like Omni DiskSweeper or disk space analyzer to evaluate where these large pockets of data are hiding.

It’s also worth mentioning that a good portion of the system data is self maintaining, so it may sometimes appear to be full, but it just clears those things as needed. Personally, if it was me and this was a new mac and freshly enrolled, I’d probably just wipe it, do a clean install of Tahoe, re-enroll, and see if the behavior returns.

I really like DaisyDisk. But it is $10. Worth it for me. Nice GUI and scans hidden folders with elevated permissions.

This helped me find log clutter build up from CIS stuff, and also some cached update packages not clearing.

Thanks for this! But that is the Problem: Both tools (DiskSweeper and DaisyDisk) are not showing up any large folders or files. It seems like the huge amount of used space doesn't exist. But the whole Disk is in use. I deleted some Apps but it is still just 1 or 2 GB free … @Josh-Q  This is exactly what I did: I did a clean install of Tahoe. Waited if everything is fine. Then I enrolled it. After some minutes the show begun: I could watch the GBs shrinking. Same as the first time (I thought it’s maybe some stuff from the Upgrade)

Odd. Did you do a scan for hidden folders/directories?
