There are rumors that this same type of licensing will be available for the Mac App Store (so OS X apps) and in reference to Lion purchase/upgrades.

If you go to the business and educational 'institutional purchase' online Apple stores, you'll now notice most of Apple's applications, and Lion, are now available for volume purchase (20+ seats for most), along with optional 3 year maintenance. For educational customers, you previously had to be enrolled in AELP, of which many institutions are unable to enter into because of the licensing terms, especially for the Mac Software collection. This new volume licensing policy looks very close to what it was in the past, and is a welcome change.
