I agree - If we are going to get it more than one point, shouldn't I be able to allocate more or less of my given point quantity, as a way of weighting my vote.
They could even use that on the backside to see how important something is to someone. If everyone is only tossing 1 or two points, then it isn't that important to them. But if everyone is maxing out their voting power - it's probably much wanted.
Maybe someone should put in a feature request. I'd vote at least 1 point for it.

For a discussion started out of curiosity, that's actually a really good idea. Some sort of weighted system for feature requests. I suppose statistically, if you look at the whole community, they're the ones doing the weighting (simply because something has been voted for more) but the individual weighting would be a nice twist.
+7@Andrew - I'd probably vote that up. My desk is a mess and I need someone to clean it up.
@Jared - I suspect they wanted us to feel like we were worth more than 1 and but wanted to not have to do any real math to figure out how many people voted on an item.
I think it would be cool to see the number of + and - votes in a smaller number above and below keeping the larger bold number. It's always fun to see how many you are against.
Theoretically you could have 250 people vote something up, and 245 people vote something down. The feature would have only 50 votes - but the amount of total votes (495) might indicate there should be an option create, though flexible enough to keep both sides of the fence happy.
