Hey Everyone,
Apple posted the dates and registration for WWDC 2010 tonight! If you haven't gone before and you administer a lot of macs, I think it's a great conference with a HUGE amount of information. I love it because of both the IT tracks and I get to hear what Apple is telling developers, so when you get the company telling you 'we had no idea Apple was going to do that' (cough, educational software companies, cough) I at least know for sure that they're lying... And the after-conference time is pretty good too!

Joke (non-joke) of the week: I had a major copier company's support line tell me that they aren't making a printer driver for intel macs yet for a certain model because they're afraid Apple is going to go back to PowerPC chips and they didn't want to waste resources......... I thought the guy was being sarcastic, nope, he was serious.

    Unfortunately there are no IT tracks this year and very little Mac OS X Development.
    This is the year of the iPad/iPhone.

    Dates are June 7-11, by the way...

    Interesting... I just glanced through it earlier assuming it was there... Ouch. Yeah, that's a big loss. Well, maybe we'll be able to cheer because iPhone OS 4 will let JAMF write an agent to manage the iPads and iPods even after being rolled out and let it happen in the background.

    Please disburse, there's nothing (evidently) to see here.

    Don't be surprised if Apple announces IT tracks later. Or, what would be
    nicer is if they split out the Enterprise tracks into their own conference. Not holding my breath for that, but it would be nice.

    Still, I gave up my WWDC chances this year to go to the CCA here in Dallas,
    so I'll just be watching Twitter for the WWDC updates again this year. :-)

    I would argue that if you do have the ability to go to WWDC, even once, it’s worth it. Regardless of IT tracks being there or not. The only catch being you are at least somewhat interested in starting the process to learn how to develop applications for iPhone or iPad for the company. Oh, and you like Apple.

    JAMF usually has a presence outside of the event as well, and does a Casper User Group meeting. Although they appear to have their schedule for the summer pretty well set. Time will tell. That was when I met Miles Leacy and a few other good folks.

    After- conference was good in ‘08, Bare Naked Ladies (the band, folks).

    I won't be going this year. We are on a budget freeze for travel and training. Unless someone wants to sponsor me, you know for a 1:1 poster child or something....:)

    I used to be a regular at wwdc, but stopped when the moscone center had 7500 people attending.

    The queues for each session, state of union drove me nuts.

    But it is worthwhile to experience it. However the reason that IT tracks would be left out right now would be a good tell tale sign that they are an after thought.

    Breaking out it administration from programming was my feedback last time. I prefer a smaller more specific conference...
