During installation process we specify how often we want computers and mobile devices to submit inventory reports to the JSS as well as how often we want computers to check in for policies. Is there a way to check the values once they were set?Is there a way of changing these settings later on, please?

Hi all, I'm always behind with my updates but it seems I need to run this one cause we now got Adobe CS 6. Just read the Requirements list of the JSS Installer that my JSS box needs to have MySQL Enterprise or Community 5.5 My jss has Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.92, for apple-darwin10.0 (i386) Do I need to update it to 5.5? Thanks in advance.-pat

I've been using a bash script run daily by a JSS policy to mount a Windows server share, synchronize its contents locally on every machine and then unmount the share. This has worked until Lion came along. It seems that 'mount_smbfs' won't authenticate properly when run as root. Here is the stripped down script with comments and error checking removed: CLIENTPATH=/Users/Shared/Test SERVERURL='//DOMAIN;botuser:password@server.designory.com/Test' SERVERMOUNT=/Volumes/Test SERVERPATH="/" mkdir "$SERVERMOUNT" /sbin/mount_smbfs -o nobrowse $SERVERURL "$SERVERMOUNT" /usr/bin/rsync -aEu --exclude ".DS_Store" --exclude "Thumbs.db" --exclude ".T*" "$SERVERMOUNT$SERVERPATH" "$CLIENTPATH" --delete-after chmod -R u=rwX,go=rX "$CLIENTPATH" diskutil unmount "$SERVERMOUNT" This works just fine when run as any user other than root. Anyone else mounting SMB shares via a s

I've successfully packaged previous versions of Adobe Camera Raw without issue but every method I've tried with ACR 6.7 has failed. This install works between composer snapshots but once it is packaged and pushed out it fails to install. Casper logs are showing a successful install but the version of ACR on the client machines remains at 6.6. Does anyone have any tips or workflow ideas for this?

I just fresh install Casper Suite 8.52 and testing enroll iOS device to inventory. On my iPad first enroll step "Install Root Certificate" is ok but it will show error whengo to next step install "MDM Profile"Our iPad wil show "https://mac.server.com:8443//enroll/SCEPProfile?invitation=26434324345454543" is invalid. Is it possible to delete a compiled configuration? I have one left over form last year (I've not re-compiled yet) and when I replicate its slowing the process down. I feel it must be in the manual someplace dammed if I can find it....

Hi everyone. I have Terminal set up as restricted software and JSS is doing a great job killing the process like I want; however, I've added both the short name and long name of a local account to the Exempt Users for this software, and it continues to kill the process when that user is running Terminal. I've rebooted the client machine a few times after making the change and still no dice. Help! :)

I'm trying to set up a test server to validate migration from our out-of-warranty XServes to Linux. I get everything set up & running on Centos just fine (a Red Hat variant that we use internally), except that when I import my database backup then Inventory searches are broken, much the same as they were apparently in 8.51... On the Inventory tab, plain text and blank searches return no results. However, Advanced Searches work normally - a search for OS is like 10.6 returns virtually all our machines, so I know the data is in there. Searches on other tabs appear to work normally - applications, fonts, peripherals all return valid results. Warning - tl;dr ahead... First pass all went well, aside from the few little hoops to jump through to get Linux set up properly. Got everything up fine, running 8.52. Used Database Utility jar file to import a current backup to have some data to work with. This is when I found the search issue, and contacted JAMF Support. JAMF Support su

I'm attempting to do some tests on our development network. After building systems, I can't bind them to the development domain. The error received is "Unable to add server. The plug-in encountered an error processing the request (10001)" I'm stumped - feel I'm missing something small as I've bound other systems in the past to the dev domain. Process:Install a clean version of 10.7.3 and 10.7.4 Add the dev domain information to System Preferences/Network/Advanced/DNSAdd the dev DNS servers: Add the dev Search Domains: Date and Time Synch time to our time serverTurn off IP V6 by open terminal and sudo then run: networksetup -setv6off EthernetRestart the system Should be able to bind to the dev domain... but nooooo! Still get the same error as before: "Unable to add server. The plug-in encountered an error processing the request (10001)"

If you're behind a proxy, you will likely need to configure it in order for the SUS portion of the appliance to work properly. The NetBoot/SUS appliance uses Reposado for the SUS service, which can be configured for proxy support. Log into your NetBoot/SUS appliance with the "shelluser" account. cd to /var/lib/reposado use an editor like vi or nano to edit preferences.plist with sudo rights Refer to https://github.com/wdas/reposado/blob/master/docs/reposado_preferences.txt and look in the Optional Keys section and find that there is a key called AdditionalCurlOptions where proxy information can be added. For example, you would add <key>AdditionalCurlOptions</key> <array> <string>proxy = "web-proxy.yourcompany.com:8080"</string> </array> to the preferences.plist file. This example adds proxy information when the proxy does not need authentication. If you have an authenticated proxy, refer to curl documentation to find th

I'm experiencing a issue that I hope, someone can shed some light on. When imaging a new computer or an older computer that has been removed from the JSS prior to imaging, the FirstRun Scripts fail to run. (Though they do show they were added and copied to the computer in the Imaging Log.) If I were to re-image a computer that is currently located in the JSS, the FirstRun Scripts do run properly. Has anyone else seen this issure? Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

Has anyone been able to create a local casper replica on an external thunderbolt drive? I have a brand spankin'new Elgato drive and I can only get it to error out so far.

I have a question about Casper Remote that I don't see answered here. When I am using this program on a room full of computers, only 20 sessions are active at any given time. When the top one finishes, then 21 starts and so on. I was wondering what causes this bottleneck and what I can do to increase the number of concurrent connections?

Hi All, We deploy our Internal Root CA Cert via a configuration profile. this seemingly sets it's trust settings to "Always Trust." We also have a cert for our Lync server, this is signed by our Internal Root CA.. however, it's trust settings are set to "Use System Defaults." To get the Lync client to connect I need to manually set the certificate to trusted.. So, is there anyway via a script to adjust an installed certs security setting? or is there away via configuration profiles to change a certs trust level?

Can anyone give advice on how to display a dialog/notification to users which includes a clickable URL? displayMessage and jamfHelper are not working out for me, unless I'm not using the right syntax or formatting. AppleScript? thanks,Darrin

Hello, I have been crafting an Apple Software Update policy this week and have run into a few issues. I am running a reposado master with cascaded slaves for remote sites. I have set the update servers in the JSS for the various network segments. I have two policies so far and a smart-group that searches for machines with more than 0 updates available. The first policy just notifies the user that they have updates available and to launch Software Update through Self-Service. The second is the Self-Service policy that is set under packages to "Set Server" and "Install all Software Updates". The first policy works just fine and notifies the user. The second policy works, however it still pulls the updates from Apple rather than one of my reposado servers. I also noticed that it doesn't modify /Library/Preferences/com.apple/SoftwareUpdate.plist. Should it update this for you, or does it use another method? I will open a ticket with JAMF, but was wonderi

I'm using the following to try to extract computer information out to an XML file. Via Terminal (command wraps in this box): curl –u username:password https://jss.domain.com:8443/JSSResource/computers/name/jafuller674382/subset/General&Location&Extention%20Attributes –o "/Users/jafuller/Desktop/jafuller674382.xml" I need to get the data from the General tab (works), Location tab (doesn't work) and Extension Attributes (doesn't work). Can you clarify what syntax would be needed here?

Hi Guys, Is there a way to have the VPN configuration profiles autofill the username field? Currently, i have the username set to "changeme," as a username is required by the profile.

Hi I am attempting to find a way to set the software update Server for Mac Pros only and wondered if anyone has successfully tried this via the JSS Thanks Abz

JSS 8.43 Setup via JSS Installer.msi on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 fails with error popout saying "The JSS requires Java 1.6 or later to be installed to function properly. Please verify that you have Java 1.6 or later installed and try running the JSS installer again." I do have Java 1.6 installed, both runtime and JDK. What else am a missing?
