10.6.7 OS Installation disk

All,

I have a new MacBook Pro 15" with the Quad Core i7 chipset. I took the OS installation disk to create my new base OS from. Needless to say, I am writing because I am having nothing but problems with it.

I was using this on a 21.5" iMac and the problem is, this installer will not work on the iMac, but I still thought I could use Casper Admin to build the Base OS from the install disk. Is this not true? Do I need to do this on the MacBook Pro?

The bottom line is, yes you get new hardware and the new OS to work from, but you need to use Casper Admin on the new hardware as well to get it working right? If this is true, then will the new OS install image deploy to older hardware without concern?

If you follow the KB, you have to do the work on the box that the installer disc came in:

What I did was rip the 10.6.5 disk, convert the image to read-write and replace the OSInstall.mpkg with the OSInstall.mpkg that came with my 10.6 (hardware unlocked) disc and then convert the finished image to read only. I then placed that image that was 10.6.7 (with the 10.6 OSinstall.mpkg) and place it in Casper.

Works for me.

Cheers
