Hey All,
I have searched high and low for information about this and I have come up with nothing helpful so here is the scoop and hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction...
I imaged 14 brand new 21" iMacs with a Hardware Specific Mountain Lion images with full software updates (10.8.2 and including the supplemental update).
I made sure that the time on the netboot image was correct (if its not the computer does not automatically set the correct time and then the computer won't bind)
I have a directory binding setup to run at imaging
Sometimes it runs and binds and everything is great, and sometimes it doesn't.
All things are equal across the board and I can't figure out why it won't bind. If it doesn't bind at imaging I login after and try to bind manually through Directory Utility and tells me a non-specific error has occurred at authentication. If I try to bind using the "jamf bind" command it tells me that the username and password is incorrect, but I can go to the computer next to it and use that username and password successfully without any problem.
I have tried to run permission verification and repair, both from Macintosh HD and from the Recovery Partition. I have tested to make sure that the computer does recognize the DNS servers using:
dig -t SVR _ldap._tcp.example.com (obviously I inserted my own domain name here)
I'm at a stand still... I'm reimaging a couple of them just to see if that can possibly help
Any ideas would be helpful.
