Adding Printers in 10.6

Has anyone else had troubles adding printers via any method in Casper? It
seems that adding the printers is hit or miss. Some will show up, some
won't. Originally I thought this was an issue of the printers being added
to Casper via a 10.5 machine, but I've since deleted them out of Casper and
re-added using a 10.6 machine, and I still get the problem.

This is a mixture of HP printers configured as Bonjour printers and a few
Canon copiers and IKON copiers set as LPD printers.

For certain, I'll push 4 LPD IKON printers out and may get 2 of them to show
up. With the HP printers it is about the same.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

If you are adding more than one printer at a time it is an issue in 7.1. This should be fixed in an upcoming release.

Yes, as Craig said it's a known issue in with 7.1 and 10.6.x

Wait for 7.2, OR rewrite your printer add policies as script, i.e.

/usr/sbin/jamf mapPrinter -id <#> (where # is the JSS ID of the printer - you can find this out in the web interface version of Casper Admin)
sleep 60 (important to do this, otherwise you see the intermittent printer add issue)

Went through this a month ago, recreated all of the printer adds as scripts because I needed them to work reliably.

Hope this helps,
