Has anyone had to move Illustrator files from one server to another and it broke the links? What is a easy/non-manual fix for over 30,000 or more Illustrator files? We are moving our art files to a new server and the links will break, so I am trying to see if you have a script for fixing them or what exactly you did to resolve this before we make the move.
Thanks

What "links" are you referring to?

If you have a Illustrator file linking photos (.psd) to the .ai file. These links may be spread out throughout different folders on the server. So as soon as you move the file to a different server and the links break, you will have to manually fix them in Illustrator, in which could take months depending on how many files you have.

So long as the mounted volume name and the paths to the linked files remain the same then you shouldn't see this problem.
Keep in mind that links are absolute and not relative. Paths must be identical from top of the volume down to the file.

If the images are in the same relative path to the file, the links should not break.
Cough...cough..sorry, for a second there QuarkXPress came to mind...I'm alergic to it.
[EDIT] Sorry, seems like William and I posted at the same time...my apologies, I was always under the impression image paths were relative.
