After enrollment in Setup Assistant, Create a Computer Account screen is skipped sometimes

Hi y'all,

So we are very busy with our migration of Intune to Jamf, but during our pilot group we experienced something very strange!

So from our Intune managed Mac we let the users download the Big Sur installer and when ready, the user will use the 'eraseinstall' command to erase & reinstall their Mac.
That part works fine, but when they reboot and the Setup Assistant appears, the first steps are normal.

The user can enter their credentials to login into Jamf to enroll, but then the issue occurs!
Normally the 'Create a Computer Account' screen will show, but this step and the next steps are skipped!

After some loading time, the MacOS login screen is presented with options to enter a username and password.
But as mentioned before, the 'Create a Computer Account' step is skipped so we cannot login into the Mac.

This is happing on 8 Mac of the 50 Mac from our pilot group. With still 570 Macs to go, this is very unwanted.

The issues occurs on different Big Sur versions....

We can fix it by erasing and reinstalling the Mac again, the second time it works perfectly.

Any ideas or tips?

Hi @LeoBoston, can you please provide your 'eraseinstall' script/command and how are the users executing this command?

I have encountered this on a couple computers as well. Same prestage enrollment for them as many other Macs. Almost all of them are wiped from Recovery and then reinstalled from that point, so not with the eraseinstall command. Another reformat did resolve it.

Is the account you're looking to create the end user or a standard admin account? If the latter, for our lab computers, I have baked that into the prestage enrollment and never had an issue.

Curious to see if there is a reason for this occurring though.
