Apple Developer Program, Mac and iOS App Stores and DOE Laboratories

Hello,

I'm a sys admin at FNAL. This morning this directive came down:
"There is a moratorium on submitting code and making purchases from the
Apple App Store. The affects all DOE Labs, and is caused by a dispute
over terms and conditions involving indemnification issues. Since Apple
now uses the App Store to distribute software for more than just iPhones,
this is a big issue."

This comes less than a week after I was told that I will not be allowed to renew my Mac Developer account in May unless Apple and the lab can come to agreement about the indemnification clause in the developer agreement and after two of my developers were not allowed to enter into the iOS Enterprise agreement for the same reason.

Are others at national labs or other .gov institutions running into similar issues? If so, how are you handling it? Have you reached out to Apple and if so, what was their response?

thanks,
jkb

@jkb Did you ever get this resolved? If not, have you had any issues with Gatekeeper preventing you from deploying in-house packages?

Merps,

Man, this is a blast from the past. FNAL was two jobs ago.

The issue was resolved by lab management changing their minds and allowing use of the store again.
