Apple Software Updates in Mountain Lion

Apple Software Updates were easy back in the day....
I had my own SUS and made updates available at my discretion and I the needed updates per hardware were only available to that hardware.
Now, it seems that Mountain Lion gets all its software updates from the App store. Because of company policy, the App store for most people is blocked.

How are people handling Apple Software updates in Mountain Lion? I'd hate to think the answer is 'manually'.....

The backend process for Software Update hasn't changed. The App Store is just the GUI.

Gotcha- so I'm guessing I'm going to have to update all my SUSs to Mountain Lion in order to server the update then?

There's a way to do have an older version serve newer updates, but I can't seem to find that kbase article at the moment.

I found this for 10.6... it may or may not work on 10.7 server and/or for 10.8 clients.

Check this out. It allows the app store to only work for system updates.
