Anyone know what the appProtd process is? It's seen in activity monitor but nowhere else. I can't find a file anywhere and google returns one result (some guy's twitter page).
This process is pegging someone's system pretty hard. Not sure whether it's safe to kill it or not. Activity monitor say's its parent process is launchd.
Any insight?

Open activity monitor, select the process and look at open files and
ports and it should link to what the launchd item is for.

Did you sample it and check the path when you were in Activity Monitor?

There is no path when sampling process. I've attached the sample.

did any one found out how to deal with appProtd service?
it kicks in on some Macs and slows them right down.
