@donmontalvo pointed this post out to me. Did not know it was here.
I was asked to write out a manual on this, so will this this in the near future.
What I can tell you now, it's not jamjar :)
And it's actually just two policies to maintain it (3 with the install).

is there a link to the script(s) being used for this? it is advertising jamf but i do not have those options for patching lol

@hdsreid these scripts are custom build. I'm working on getting them public asap :).
In my case (which the scripts are build upon) I'm using munki to update our apps.
This is also the place for the script to look if there are pending updates
