Hello everyone-

Casper Suite 7.0 has been completed! Everybody should be getting an email with information by Friday afternoon. If you don't receive an email by then, or have pressing needs to upgrade sooner, please send an email to:

blaine at jamfsoftware.com

He will be happy to get you the information as quickly as possible.

There are a number of new features and enhancements that are related to recent discussions on the list:

Adobe CS3 and CS4 Deployments:
We have much better support for CS3 and CS4 installers. The jamf binary also goes through the installer logs if an error is returned from the Adobe Installer to give you a quick idea of what the problem is. The infamous Error Code 7 should now come with some more information.

The recent "Image too big?" thread:
We have a new feature called Compiled Configurations. This allows you to use a completely modular approach to building your images while still having the speed of a block copy for a monolithic image.

DVD OS Package Creation:
Along with the idea of Compiled Configurations, we have also implemented the ability for Casper Imaging to utilize a disk image of a Mac OS X Install DVD.

Boot Camp Imaging:
Casper Imaging also has the ability to partition hard drives and deploy Winclone images for Bootcamp support. Partitioning is built into a Configuration and can be setup using Casper Admin.

Open Directory Binding:
The JSS now allows you to specify more directory bindings than just the built in Active Directory binding. You can also create bindings for Open Directory, Likewise, ADmitMac and Centrify. These bindings are available through Casper Imaging, Policies and Casper Remote.

Managed Preferences and The Desktop & Screensaver pref pane:
The new Managed Preferences feature will be a great way to enforce things like this. If you're familiar with MCX, Managed Preferences are basically the same thing. We're excited to see the discussions regarding Managed Preferences on the list, and will jump in to give tips when possible.

regards,
zach
