compiling configs - non OSX dist points?

Is anyone who is using non OSX distribution points able to compile their configs consistently?

We have had weird issues when compiling on anything except OSX Server (using built in storage vs. storage array) and I'm wondering if it's just us or if no one else is doing that.

Not sure how your flavor of distribution points would have any affect on compiling. I have a dedicated desktop for image creation, pkg creation and compiling. It's just a standard desktop.
After some odd trial and error, my favorite style is to compile while logged in as root and never re-compile an image. If it changes make a new one with a new name.
The key for me has been to log gin as root. That way I can start it and forget it.
