So, in my compiled image I have 10.5.0 retail DVD image + the 10.5.8 combo updater set to install first. Then I have a series of updates and app installs set to install next. Followed by any last updates that need to be applied.
It seems that QT and Safari are being a pain. QT 7.62 is set to install towards the end as well as iTunes 9.03 but it seems they don't want to install. Also the java updates I have the 5th update to install then the 6th, the 5th installs fine but the 6th no dice.
Pointers? Anyone else have issues with this?

I've been seeing these problems with InstaDMG as well. It appears to be
related to the way these newer packages look for the root volume and
refuse to install anywhere else. Apparently this breaks the "safe"
chroot jail environment that most compiled image creation products use
to do this. Currently there is no "fix" that I'm aware of. Most people
are compiling as much as they can and then using SUS to push those
things that won't compile. I have no idea about how Casper does it's
compiling but it makes sense that they would be affected the same way
these other products are.

Does this have to do with that installer bug that was mentioned a few
weeks back on the mailing list? It seems QT and Safari and the Java 6
updates just will not freaking listen.

It’s exactly what Karl was talking about, yes.

I guess I am going to just modify my post image script to run software
update since I don't have a SUS set up due to my environment and HD
space
