Why would I have Configuration Profiles showing as Pending even though those machines have been online since the profile was pushed?

Obvious answers are to check your APNS certificate is up-to-date, and check your firewall by trying to telnet to the APN servers.
telnet 1-courier.push.apple.com 5223 telnet gateway.sandbox.push.apple.com 2195 telnet gateway.push.apple.com 2195
