Whats the point of having DEP in Apple Configurator when you can "Manage" and "Supervise" the devices from deploy.apple.com.

DEP is not in Apple Configurator. You can add enrollment profiles from your MDM to Configurator, or use an enrollment URL, but enrolling in this way bypasses the Device Enrollment Program. You can supervise/manage with either DEP or Apple Configurator, but you can't use both simultaneously. The language in the Apple Configurator app does not make this very clear.

thanks for the details jasonaswell
This DEP option in AC was confusing for me. I though that the devices couldn't be purchased under DEP (or purchased before DEP program) from Apple can be enrolled under DEP using AC. I would rather use deploy.apple.com with my MDM to enroll the devices purchased under DEP. That makes it easier.

No problem. We had some similar confusion as we were getting our feet wet with DEP since they use the label "Device Enrollment" in the setup section of Apple Configurator.
