Hi guys,

I need to deploy acrobat 9 to a handful of workstations... & Ive forgot how to do it!

Do I just install drag the app folder into composer I install the app & then do a new & modified before I launch to capture the license number etc onc launched?

Regards,

Ben.

Let me know how it goes because it all goes to hell for me, users need admin privs to actually run it. I tried to get it to just work for every standard user and no go. You also have to install it before deploying CS 5 or it will overwrite the licensing and then you have to re-serialize your adobe install.

Cheers

Rob

I have 2 separate packages (both made with Composer), one licensed and one
unlicensed.

I use the licensed one on new builds and have it run before the rest of my
CS5 install (packaged with AAMEE). I use the unlicensed one if I need to
add it to a system that already has a CSx suite that I am not ready to
delete yet. Then I follow up via ARD and license it on first launch.

how do you fix the whole repair instillation with admin password for non admin users?

I used this method posted by William Smith back in March.

"To avoid Acrobat prompts after an update copy this file and its contents
to your workstations and into each user's home folder:

~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.acrobat.90.sh.plist

Each update adds to this list. You really only need the last version
applied."

When I created my DMG in Composer I set this file to Fill Existing Users
and Fill User Template.

Why don't you use AAMEE from Adobe?
Adobe Application Manager, Enterprise Edition 2.1 (Mac)

I didn't think it would package acrobat?

Regards,

Ben.

AAMEE can package Acrobat Pro X. AAMEE can't handle Adobe Acrobat Pro X. Yet.

That should read...

AAMEE can package Acrobat Pro X. AAMEE can't handle Adobe Acrobat Pro X *UPDATES*. Yet.

Acrobat 9 is a drag-n-drop folder. Nothing to really "install". However,

it has the legacy self-heal headache.

If you can get your hands on MacTech July 2011, I have an article about
adding scripts to packages and specifically address installing Acrobat 9
updates along with getting rid of the self-heal problem.

If you already have some CS applications installed then you're in for a
bit of hurt because the applications all use the same serial number file.
Overwrite it and you break things. I don't know of any simple way to
script editing this file.

If you only have a handful of machines then I suggest you manually enter
the serial number and look forward to the day when you're able to go to
Acrobat X and not see this problem.

Thanks.

If was to deploy at imaging time with an AAMEE created cs5... Is the order Acobat 1st, then CS5 with CS5 serialising all?

Regards,

Ben.

Thanks for clarifying...

Ben.

CS5 comes with Acrobat 9 but it's not part of the suite installer. It must

Thanks will.

I was imaging as I typed.

Acrobat 9 has deployed & serialised @ imaging fine...

Thanks!

Next to try a live mac, but pretty sure same method should work.

Then to try self heal fix.

Regards,

Ben.

just wanted to update..

Installing Acrobat during casper imaging & then having CS5 install & first boot works fine.

This is due to the following file being amended with the license info:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/pcd.db

If CS5 is installed.. & then acrobat needs to be installed.. you CAN install Acrobat after CS5 if also install the pcd.db file above with the correct licensing.
