Deploying Kernel Extension payloads to earlier macOS

Suppose I deploy Configuration Profiles with Approved Kernel Extension payloads to 10.12 Sierra (and earlier) Macs, will they function correctly and allow the extensions when upgraded to High Sierra and Mojave?

This may not matter as "Approval is automatically granted to third-party KEXTs that were already present when upgrading to macOS High Sierra."
