Has anyone found a way to forcibly disable QuickLook programatically? The more I read, the more I'm convinced the QuickLook agent is responsible for all the file locks we experience on our SMB volumes.

I was hoping things would have improved with Mojave and the latest patches, but our issues have become significantly worse.

A few threads suggest going to the Finder menu "View" > "Show View Options" and disabling "Show Icon Preview". If that works it could help but I can't see a way to make that enforceable in a building full of computers.

I thought if I could kill the QuickLook agent responsible for making those previews I would be able to fix this situation once and for all.

Beyond the file locking issue people smarter than I have identified QuickLook's cache as a potential security threat, so disabling it altogether might have a bonus extra of eliminating that risk. https://objective-see.com/blog/blog_0x30.html

Any thoughts?
