Let me start with we are new to using Casper, so I apologize if this has been answered already, but I did find an answer to this.

We are trying to distribute a test application and it keeps failing with the following error in the log:
Downloading http://casperserver.local:80/CasperShare/Packages//avast.dmg
Error: package not successfully downloaded: 6

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    I'm seeing the same issue with CasperSuite 8.71, http downloads from OS X Server configured with .local hostname.

    Error: package not successfully downloaded: 6

    I ran into a similar problem. I don't recall if the error message was the same or not though. The default web server root directory wasn't set correctly on our OS X server distribution point. I used the information at https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/article.html?id=116 to help get that fixed. Once this was set correctly our policies would successfully complete using http. Prior to having it set correctly I would have to force a policy to use afp to get it to successfully complete.
