Errors on policy to set EFI password, "com.Jamfsoftware.task.errors error 188"

On some macs, when the policy to set the EFI password is run it has a very useless error message in the policy log of "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.jamfsoftware.task.errors error 188.)".

Someone else in February asked about this same exact error and there were no responses to his question. After the first machine had this error, I checked out the computer and did not find any issues. A second attempt running the policy succeeded.

Any ideas on what this error really means?

Have you applied the setregprop tool by chance to your machines?

So should we still be using setregprop tool on late model High Sierra Systems in order to enable Firmware password?
