I am new to submitting questions but I would like to know if there is someone out there who has somehow packaged up Final Cut Pro with all of the extras that come with it. The total content is huge and I need to install this software plus extras on a series of 15 iMacs. Any help/information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hiya,

I do a Normal snapshot with Composer.
Install the full FinalCut suite.
After run the Build from Composer.

Then I remove the Audio Loops and the Live Type from this within Composer.

I create a DMG of everything minus the above two and call it FCP-Core.

The Audio Loops become another package from the default location.
Same with the Live Type.

At the end I have three DMGs: Core, LiveType and AudioLoops.

We use an internal Apple SUS so any and all FCP updates are picked up and
installed after the fact.

Most my users don't care for the Loops/Type and if they need it, I can
push it out or SelfService it.

We serialize after the instal since we don't have a VL for FinalCut Pro.

I do the same for FinalCut Express.

Hi Jim,

I've installed it here. Yes, it's a BIG file but it packages up nicely.

I used Composer on an updated basic OS build; selected 'New and Modified
Snapshot'; then installed Final Cut Pro with all content; ran Software
Update to bring it current; and then re-indexed the machine & built the
package from that. Initially I did it as a .pkg, but subsequently (and
currently) as a .dmg. Both work just fine.

You should try to avoid doing anything else on the machine during install,
so Composer doesn't pick up unrelated files. The regular OS activity will
generate a few extra files, but you can either trim them after the fact
(prior to building your pkg/dmg) or (if you're not familiar with the inner
workings of the OS) just ignore them, as they're usually small files that
get updated regularly.

Hi,

I used Composer to make my Final Cut Studio package using the new and modified setting. I then removed all the applications from the package, renamed the package Final_Cut_Studio_core and made a dmg. I then made drag and drop packages for all the Final Cut Studio apps using Composer one at a time.

This way I can roll them all out individually and if it errors I won't have to start again with a big package. I can just start from where it failed.

Best wishes

Michael
