How does one disable claiming of OS X apps such as iLife & iWorks?

At a recent JAMF Roadshow, an Apple Engineer mentioned that one could disable the claiming of OS X apps such as iLife and iWorks via Casper. The only optioned I'm aware of that mentions something like this is through a configuration profile, but he wasn't sure and he said that it was a command of some sort.

So I just wanted to get some clarification on this and make sure I'm doing it right. Currently, I'm aware of using configuration profile with the Restrictions payload and unchecking "Allow App Store app adoption". Is this right method? That's supposed to stop adopt of iLife apps (iMovie, GarageBand, iPhoto which I guess is no longer relevant with Photos) and iWorks apps (Keynote, Numbers, Pages), correct?

That should do it, yes. What you likely want to do is flip those bundled apps into Managed Distribution licenses. There's a process to do that on both Mac and iOS. See these articles:

Here's hoping with the advent of El Capitan and machine assigned apps that free apps are simply machine bound and just work with no further work required...
They won't be of course, but it starts to make real sense to claim them for VPP once they can be licensed out to machines directly.
