How to grey out the Automatic Updates in App Store for Mac

Hi All,

We just recently deployed Jamf Pro & Jamf Connect to our organization (to more than 100 Macbooks and iMac).

We recently decide to open App Store and let our user to download and install apps that they purchase by themselves.

However, we setup the automatic updates in Jamf Pro.

Now my question is that we would like to grey out the Automatic Updates button in AppStore preferences (for user) so that User will always get updates and using the latest apps.

is there a way to do this in Jamf?

You can create a configuration profile. Look for Software Update on the left. There you can enable/disable what you want for Mac OS updates. Apply at the computer level and scope it to your macs or all managed devices. But, please keep in mind that automatic updates will install the Mac OS updates and reboot the user's mac automatically without the user knowing regardless of what they are doing.

Hi, Thank you, you are correct. We can create a configuration policy and setup the software update, in there i can specify for the automatically install app updates.

The user will still be able to uncheck Software Updates from the App Store, however everytime the user computer sync with Jamf the Automatic Updates from App Store will tick again.
