As trying to test iBeacons with Casper and OS X I cannot get it to work properly. When scoping a policy to a computer and runnung sudo jamf policy the binary says there is no policy available. This is what I've done so far:

  • Enabled Monitor iBeacon regions
  • Created iBeacon region
  • Created new policy which is enabled, scoped to 1 machine, Limitation to the iBeacon region, custom trigger: beaconStateChange.
  • Policy should only give a message when entering iBeacon region

With settings mentioned above the policy in the dashboard stays grey instead of yellow or green

What setting did I miss?

The policy should only trigger when the Mac detects the beacon so I don't think sudo jamf policy would do it. I've got a full video walkthrough I did at a London Apple Admins meetup last year if it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBB5Ys_Tv3g

It starts at 57min 30sec
