Hi, has anyone tried packaging and deploying MathType? I can get it installed but the license key doesnt come down with it and I cant figure out where that is stored.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Did you ever get this package built? I'm having the same issue now!

Thanks

Laura

Hi Laura,

I found out the license information is kept at Mac HD/Users/Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.DesignScience.DSMT6.plist. However I tried capturing a snapshot before & after installing and activating it, but it wouldnt carry the licensing info to the client install even with FEU FUT checked off. I think its a flaw with their software because the licensing doesnt get carried over to all users even on the same machine. Each user would have to activate it. Since I only had 18 people using it, I created the package and gave them the license key to use once it was installed.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

I managed to get this packaged, an it seems to be working. If you create a DMG and make sure the user preferences are included in the package, the following files are where the licensing info is stored:

Home folder/Library/Preferences/

com.DesignScience.DSMT6.plist
com.DesignScience.DSMT6.plist.lockfile
com.dessci.CrashReportTool.plist
com.dessci.CrashReportTool.plist.lockfile
com.dessci.MathType.plist
com.dessci.MathType.plist.lockfile

Hope this helps you?

Thanks

Laura

Thanks for this thread! Funny that those .plists don't get captured by a normal snapshot scan. Weirder things have happened, I suppose. Anyhow, this thread saved me a bit of package troubleshooting. Cheers!

@Bray How do you ensure the license files are packaged? And thank you for the help!
