iOS Content Filter payload issue

Hey Guys,

We are currently using the content filter payload “Limit Adult Content” on our deployed iOS devices for students. Some users are getting a “Blocked by content Filter” message when viewing certain websites like youtube.com or aleks.com (math site). I’ve checked our on prem filter (Palo Alto) and these sites are allowed there.

We are a tk-12 school with iPads deployed to all of our students. Only a select few are getting this message and I am having a hard time pinpointing exactly what the issue is.

I can add these specific sites to be allowed in the content filter payload and they work but why are some kids getting blocked while the majority have no issues at all viewing these sites.

The attached screen shot is from Google Sheets trying to play a youtube video from a slide.

We use that content filter payload too, but only to block the private browsing feature since it breaks some things from working and we have a different content filter. We ran into the same issue, so we turned off the "Enable Automatic Filtering" which fixed the problem, but then that change allowed the private browsing again. After that I found out that if you add a single URL to the Blocked URLs it will still block private browsing. I think the "Automatic Filtering" is your issue. We are on JAMF School so I'm not sure this screen will look the same.

We have problems using this block adult content feature as well. We use a flush safari cache as a fix for many of our canvas/clever SSO connections, and when we turn on adlut content block, we no longer can flush safari cache. We also found that it blocked ridiculous words. ie. straight and hot. We had students looking for hot foods and it was blocked. Some students also searched for straight line equasions. Blocked also. So they could search for warm foods and for equasions, but straight and hot were blocked. ODD...
