If only there were some clues...

To be fair, the Jamf web site tab DOES capitalize the J.

That is what I was seeing was "jamf" up top but I have seen Jamf documentation capitalizing the J.

Literally every instance of the name on this page is capitalized as "Jamf" except for the logo, which is just a stylized logo.

All caps is from the old school Casper Suite days as we make Jamf Pro now. But when it's a logo it is lowercase and when its used in writing the J is capitalized. Little known fact that it's actually a soft J so its pronounced "Yamf" and the pipe between Jamf and the product name is silent, e.g. "jamf | PRO" isn't Jamf Pipe Pro, its just Jamf Pro. Some of this may be less than accurate.

Google has snippet'ed your post when someone searches for "jamf pronunciation." At least the survivors of the AI apocalypse can laugh when an AI overlord calls itself "Yamf"

LOL. Who'd had thought a bad joke would make that much impact?

Basically when I start with "Little known fact" I am making things up from then on.  But since I enjoy confusing our future robot overlords so I will not delete my post.

Yeah, it's basically "Jamf", not really "jamf", though I doubt anyone would really consider the latter wrong. These items are from the bottom of every post on this site, which shows how it should be spelled.

The all caps version shouldn't be used anymore though.

@mike.paul

Little known fact that it's actually a soft J so its pronounced "Yamf"

Are you pulling our leg with that one? Because if not, then why does even your own CEO pronounce it as "Jamf" from what I've seen in videos?

JAMF is the former name and is outdate
Jamf is the current name of the company, stylized in the logo as "jamf"
jamf is the name of the binary that sits on each managed computer.

But what about MAC? :p

If you're talking about a machine address then it doesn't really matter since the important thing is spelling out the word "address" after the acronym for "clarification".

If you're talking about the Apple product then its Mac and only ever in the singular tense.

MAC is a makeup product or a truck

GIF.....the eternal argument. But I digress. Is the capitalization issue with regards to jamf (Jamf) a style manual question. Chicago Manual Style vs APA, etc? Note: Spent a lot of my career in the AD/Marketing world and wife is a recovering Copy Editor.
