The Install JDS package included in the 9.0 download lists the following requirements:
Operating System: OSX Server 10.6 or Later
Hardware: Mac with Intel Processor, 2 GB RAM and 100 GB of disk space
Software: Server.app version 2.2 or later
Lion's Server.app does not update beyond version 1.5.0, and trying to install the JDS on a configured 10.6 and 10.7 Server issues the following error:
"Server App Not Configured, The JDS requires that the Server App has been configured. Please run the Server App setup, and try running the JDS installer again."
Do JDS installations require 10.8 Server or has any one had luck installing version 9.0s JDS installer on a 10.6 or 10.7 Server?

Server.app 2.x is only for 10.8... sounds like perhaps the requirements are in error (would make more sense if that read 10.8, not 10.6)? Else there's a bug in JAMF's version detection...

I could only get things working if it was OS 10.8.

So basically all of my 2008 era xserves are scrap for new JSS functionality. Great...

Apparently, if you change out the graphics card, and edit a file, you can successfully run 10.8 on the 2008-era XServes:

Hey everyone,
As of 9.1, JDS instances can be installed on 10.7; 10.6 is not supported.
Sorry for the confusion.
