Do I need to upgrade MySQL to 5.5.x before I upgrade the JSS to 8.51?
I am running JSS 8.43 on Mac OS X Server 10.6.8.
I am currently running the version of MySQL included with OS X, 5.0.92.

I don't believe so. Our main JSS runs on a 10.6.8 Xserve. If you had an old version of the JSS that used the Tomcat folder to store the web app you may run into an issue on what what gets updated using the JSS installer.

Thanks. The upgrade went well.
I have been running JSS since 7.2. I moved the Tomcat folder to the "new" Casper location when I upgraded to 8.4.

No, the JSS will take care of everything. I'm testing an upgrade to 8.51 from 8.1 on a 10.6.8 mac mini server now, and the upgrade is seamless, didn't even have to move the Tomcat directory.
