Licensed software

Not applicable

My I'm a busy list poster today...

I've just started playing around with the new 'Licensed Software' options in
v5 and I've got a bit of an anomaly.

I've added our iWork licenses in and then added both Pages.app and
Keynote.app as Software Definitions, but when we recon just one of our
machines that has iWork installed, because it has both Pages and Keynote the
JSS reports that we've hit our license limit (we own 2 licenses).

It's also showing up another machine that has an iWork demo as contributing
to the license usage.

Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding the use of the feature? I'm guessing
bug, because our Adobe licenses for instance forbid splitting suites across
machines, but some suites contain the same software.

Cheers
Dan

Hi-

How do folks handle the advertisement of software that requires a license in Self Service? My organization purchases licenses “from the middle” and then we charge back user groups for the licensed software. This way we get economies of scale and can keep track of the licenses. I’d like to advertise that the product is available, but not have the actual download available unless they’re in a particular group that has access to the software.

How do you do it in your organization and does it work well?

Thanks!

How do you notify your user community of upcoming changes to configurations
or policies? Does your organization have an intranet site?
I would use your standard communications organ to inform the general user
community that something is available. Once they have purchased a license,
you can add them to the group to which your self-service policy is scoped.

I want to setup the licensed software for the final cut suite(s), but I
don't want to have to install v9 or earlier just for the sake of knowing
the file names, does anybody have the definitions handy?
