Before I put in a feature request, Does anyone know if it is possible to put a device into lost mode without invoking the GPS query? I don't mean possible in JSS. I know there they are tied together. I mean from the aspect of device/mdm api features/limitations. I'd like to use the lost mode feature for locking devices out of compliance, but I don't think upper management would be happy about seeing that we also pulled their location at the time of the lock.

+18I didn't think there was a setting to stop it. It may still possible to stop it from the devices side though.
The Apple KB article says "if you turn off Location Services and then use Find My iPhone Lost Mode, your device will turn on Location Services for as long as the device is in Lost Mode. When you turn off Lost Mode, Location Services will return to its previous state"
although this is talking about find my iPhone so not sure if it works exactly like that with MDM.
