Thanks, why isnt Adobe consistent with their updates?

They changed the executable name, it does not run silently any more. And why is it still an app instead of a pkg.

I see from another discussion thread that Apple has already updated the XProtect file to block Flash player below 11.5.502.149.

I think I liked it better when Apple didn't care that much about security. :-/

Wow - broken Flash player here, on both FF and Safari. No thanks, Adobe - do not want. I'll wait for the next build.

Can always put the old (or edited) xprotect file back and disable your machines from checking. When you have the new version of flash is working the way that works in your environment, push it out.

OK, that was weird. I tested this with both silent deployment and regular double-click-on-the-pkg installations. Either time, going to Adobe's site to test flash failed - I'd get an empty frame. Right-clicking verified the plugin version number.

Moved /Library/Internet Plugins/flashplayer.xpt to Internet Plugins (Disabled). Tried again - flash came up fine, both browsers. Both files showed same creation date of 2/1/13. Put old flashplayer.xpt back again - flash still worked.

What the heck?!? Still not real sure about deploying this...needs more testing.

Our student MBPro machines have 'Never check for updates' System Preference--Flash--Advanced-- set. That has made it a little easier today... those don't see Flash update yet. Does anyone know for sure - when does xprotect check? Is it on login or launch of browser or ??? I signed up for the distribution access from Adobe first thing this morning in a hope that I can get the pkg files from them. Seeing how long 'approval' takes. So busy didn't have time to Compose a package yet...

License is good for a year or until Adobe creates some yet more cumbersome model of distribution.

Adobe Flash Player.pkg is nested in usual location of install_flash_player_11_osx.dmg
/Volumes/Flash Player/Install Adobe Flash Player.app/Contents/Resources/Adobe Flash Player.pkg

This is where my "out of hours" update policy and self service are going to save my bacon this weekend.

Oddly enough, the Mac I was testing with (OS X 10.6.8) had our previous Flash Player update (11.3r300), had the updated XProtect.meta.plist which has the minimum version set to 11.5.502.149, but I was able to play Flash content in Safari.

I used Composer 8.63 to download latest package manifests and used the Pre-existing Software option to create a Flash .149 package, it has worked in my testing so I've set it to deploy..
