Essential Job Duties

The Systems Programmer/Analyst serves as a member of the Libraries Information Technology department. As the key departmental resource for Apple and Linux systems: provides technical consultations on highly complex projects; provides expertise on all Apple- and Linux-related issues; mentors departmental technicians in methods of resolving problems. Performs specialized work in developing and supporting the staff and public OS X, iOS, and Linux environments of the Libraries. Support includes optimizing systems performance, analyzing usage, system load issues, and troubleshooting issues as necessary. Diagnoses systems problems and identifies technical trends in problem identification and resolutions. Architects networked solutions that integrate with campus and library cross-platform systems. Responsible for forecasting and implementing system upgrades.

Required Skills

• Significant relevant experience with Apple systems support or administration
• Experience managing Apple systems in a networked environment. • In-Depth knowledge of Apple Remote Desktop
• Experience with automated managed environment tools for deploying operating systems and applications, including OS-level scripting and automation. • Experience securing machines and applications in an enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of disk imaging and backup
• Experience with complex, multi-platform environments; understanding of relevant cross-platform systems and protocols.
• Project management, time-management, and organizational skills
• Very good written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet high service standards in all interactions • Demonstrated interest in and ability to learn new skills and technologies

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• One or more of the following: Apple Certified Technical Coordinator, Apple Certified Media Administrator, Apple Certified Macintosh Technician, Apple Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer, Senior Level Linux Professional (LPIC-3)
• Advanced knowledge of one or more media production or modeling packages (e.g., Final Cut Pro, Motion, AfterEffects, Premiere, Maya)
• Practical experience with Red Hat Linux
• In-Depth knowledge of Casper management suite
• Experience with complex networked printing environments and Active Directory services.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Compensation: Salary Range: $41,593 - $88,477 Anticipated Hiring Range: $74,036
