Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to automatically set Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Edge as the default apps on iOS?
I've been researching this, and from what I’ve found, it seems the user needs to open the apps at least once and manually set them as default. Is that correct?
Any input or workaround would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hi @JaimeVF ,
Another method you can try is using the Shortcuts app to create a shortcut that sets Microsoft Edge as the default browser. You can then share the shortcut via a link using AirDrop or email, along with instructions on how to use it. Once the user opens and runs the shortcut on their iPad, the setting will apply.
Unfortunately, this method is not yet supported by Outlook.

Hi @agungsujiwo ,
Thanks for the information.
I believe it's not necessary to add these shortcuts, as the apps prompt users to set them as the default the first time they are opened.
My goal was just to avoid this manual step and also prevent users from choosing a different default app.

Check out this utility from Armin Briegel:
New tool: utiluti sets default apps – Scripting OS X
I have not tried it yet, but it should do what you are asking. However, IIRC, setting the default browser will still prompt the user, even if you use a utility. So, it is not fully automated.

But that's just for macOS or am I missing something?

Yes, it's only for macOS. You can't run scripts on mobile devices through Jamf
