PackageKit: *** Missing bundle identifier

Hi,

I get these but have nothing to do with the error, i find the message after the error shows what it refers to,

IF i try to install Safari 5.0.4 over 5.0.3 i get the missing bundle etc, but the under it it says it cannot install over 5.03 etc

So i would look for other reason, such as why it cant install, requires 10.6.6 etc

Also if the Share is unmounted then it will error.

s that list a whole bunch of PackageKit Missing bundle identifiers. The only thing that I can tell from it is there are receipt files in /Library/R
eceipts which shouldn't be in a Snow Leopard machine. Has anyone else seen this? Will removing those receipt files in /Library/Receipts keep these errors from showing up?

You will see the same message, but the last line shows why it fails, it has nothing to do with the named Apps, but it dues ti EpsonDrivers

This is what I see at the end of those lines. No errors, plus it continues on to run the adobe provisioning tool and then has a manual trigger that launches the updates to Acrobat X. The only difference between an install that doesn't prompt a policy error and one that does are the missing bundle identifier messages.

hmmm dunno, but when i get these errors it never has anything to do with the packages listed as issues with missing bundle identifier, for me the programs aren't even relevant, as you can see from mine I'm not even installing any off those programs, so i would suggest you look deeper into other issues

are the other lines the same on good install log?

We also see these on various vendors' packages. Cisco VPN for instance we constantly see. I believe it has to do with pkgutil being called during recon and the CFBundleIdentifier flag is missing from the receipt's info.plist file.

Basically it's a vendor not following Apple's spec.

Well I was just able to replicate the policy error. I copied the receipt files that were in /Library/Receipts/ onto a test machine, ran the installer from Self Service and after it finished got an email from the JSS saying there was a policy error. I removed the receipt files from /Library/Receipts and re-ran the installer, no errors. I guess I'm just wondering why 10.6 machines are putting receipt files in /Library/Receipts? I thought they were supposed to stop that practice and only put them in /var/db/receipts.

Yes, that's what I do. They are spurious receipts installed on a Snow Leopard system, either by a policy or package snapshot done on a 10.5.x system. On Mar 24, 2011, at 9:38 AM, GolbigA at mskcc.org wrote:
