Packaging Final Cut Studio

Not applicable

All,

I have been trying without success to package the Final Cut Studio suite. I have tried to package JUST Final Cut and this hasn't been any better. Essentially, I am able to grab the users data, but when it comes back down from the server and I open it on the Mac it loaded to, all it does is crash without opening at all. This happens on all of the apps as well.

Does anyone have any secrets to packaging Final Cut for Casper?

Thanks!

Mick

I am also curious, today I am testing deployment of Final Cut packages I
have made. Next year the broadcasting & radio depts. are getting makeovers
:)

I have packaged three images for testing; the entire Studio, an OS + Studio,
and a complete monolithic image (107GB :s). I will post results.

Hello, we have a packaging department we also had problems with this, I
saw this note so I had her send it to me to share with you all. I hope
this helps.

I took a snapshot, deleted the recommended file:
"/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Studio System ID"
I believe there were a few cache files too, cannot remember name.

Most shortcuts will work, once you delete the id file all will work.

Launch Final Cut Pro shortcut, you will have to enter the license, and
register the product, or ignore registration a couple times, not sure if
it will ever prompt you again.

Not sure if you can use the same number on multiple machines, it seem to
work, if it is a single user license, you have multiple license, just do
not want to keep track.

I have packaged a few times final cut studio 2 using composer without any problems, it is very big about 100gb if I recall but it's worked everytime without fail,

I just did a stand composer package

About changing this file:

I just went through packaging Final Cut Studio, and it all appears to have
installed ok, I grabbed it through self-service, and the install process all
looked flawless.

But when I go to launch the apps, they all open and immediately close, then
I get an "application unexpectedly quit" message.

Anyone else seen this? Have any ideas for remedies before I go through the
whole long process again?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi,

I have been emailing with Michael about this privately and I am seeing the same thing. Only Composer will open and asks for my serial number. QuickTime become QuickTime Pro, but still Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro don't open. Does Composer open for you guys?

The install that I made the package from is fine. I have logged in as root and it still doesn't work, so I am assuming no permission issues. I have tried to repair permissions as well.

Maybe it is time to speak to support. Those pre built application are great in Composer, but it doesn't tell you which version of the application it is made for. I put this through as a feature request.

Best wishes

Michael

Hi Michael,

I did get this working. I am using Composer 7.0. In addition, I chose to use modified snapshot method rather than the normal snapshot. For some reason, I couldn't get it to work any other way. I suspect there are changed files that are typically installed by the OS and that Final Cut modifies. So far so good.

Incidentally my monolithic / old school image works just fine and doesn't
take too long to pull down so I am going to run with that for now.
