Anyone out there gone through the process of implementing a load balancing solution for JSS? Did you have to choose the solution? What was your criteria and how did you make your decision?

We ended up going with mid-level Barracuda Networks load balancer.

We needed something that did SSL offloading, had Gig Networking and something that was affordable. Only have had to use their support once, but they were able to get us back in business fairly quick. This is our first purchase from Barracuda and we have been very happy with it as a solution.

It was a fairly fast decision once we compared its price to some of the top names in the game at the time

We went with a Kemp LoadMaster 2200, its gig and handles our Exchange,PowerSchool and JSS cluster. Before, we had our old 10/100 LB and WOW what a difference. I used to get calls every day and needed to restart the old single instance of the JSS.. Now its much better after getting a little help from the guys at JAMF and the new load balancer. Setup was a little tricky mostly because of our environment, however the load balancer's GUI was very easy and straight forward. Our Criteria was something with good support, low power consumption and easy setup, and obviously gigabit.

We went open source with HAProxy - the beta is production stable and offers the SSL offloading
