PKG (flat) vs DMG for deploying Mac App Store apps

Just wondering if anyone done any home work to determine if PKG (flat) or DMGs are better (faster or more reliable) for deploying Mac App Store apps like Final Cut Pro X or Compressor. I understand what the differences are between them, but wondering which is the most efficient for deployment.

I have been packaging them as flat PKGs, but when installing with Casper Remote or via Self Service, deployment works but it seems slows. Even when I force the install over AFP.

(Casper Suite 8.43)

I think it's going to be slow no matter which you choose...well, unless you go with a non-flat PKG and mv the FCPX appliation from the PKG to /Applications (ala the Parallels Auto Deploy wrapper).
